There are a couple of new tools to assist those of us who use Kallisto in English. These can be seen when you visit the Manuals & Tools page (linked from the main Community page when you are logged in).
First, the Kallisto manual has been updated! New features include:
-Bookmarks on the left
-Navigation within the document
-References given to corresponding fields in the OPAC
-The fields in the manual match the Kallisto software
-Tables assist in entering information in cases where the Kallisto fields are awkward to navigate
-Up-to-date information on fonts and multimedia
Second, the first of five planned Kallisto tutorials is complete! The first one gives an overview of Kallisto. It is linked to the RISM Zentralredaktion's YouTube channel, which you can also visit at:
Please let me know if anything is unclear or not working. I'll be looking forward to reading your comments and suggestions!
UPDATE, SEPT. 2012: The Kallisto software has been updated with improved English terminology. The manual has also been updated to reflect this and is available at its usual place, Manuals & Tools.
Quick guide for the search
With the help of a so-called wildcard you can look for several search words, which have the same word beginning. If you search e.g. for "Typo*", the search will find everything that begins with "Typo" : Typo3, Typoscript, Typocode, Typo3user... etc.
- Negative search
If you do not want to find certain expressions in your search result, you can cause this with placing a hyphen in front. Terms containing this phrase are excluded from the search result.
- Search for user
It is possible to limit the search result on answers of certain users. In addition to the retrieval query attach still another "user:username" and find the results, which were written by this certain user. If the username could not be found this will be ignored.
